Review- Does TheBodyShop ‘Drops of Youth’ Peel Work?

Skincare is the devil. Or that is how it can feel sometimes. Often it can feel like the Skincare industry is just a trap, elaborately plotted and cloaked in clinical terminology. Models pretending to wash their face smiling Maniacally at their own reflections. Believe me I’ve tried it. It is near impossible to wash your face with that weird splashing motion the advertisements show. It can feel like Skincare is a criminal collection of overpriced creams and scented liquids. Promising you the world and rarely providing it. But sometimes it feels like some products intentionally hook the user. Giving results which soon fade if you skip a single day of use. It can  leave your skin and your self esteem even more of a mess. As you find yourself hunting down a last drop of magic serum to tide you over until you can afford to repurchase the product again. This is the vicious cycle many of us find ourselves in. A cycle that the fat cats of the industry probably rely on. Today I’m going to Review a popular product, and do all the work so you don’t have to. I’ll be asking; Does TheBodyShop ‘Drops of Youth’ Peel Really Work? And is it worth your time.

The Product- Does TheBodyShop ‘Drops of Youth’ Peel really work?

Theres been a lot of talk circulating about this specific product. Videos of faces shedding skin in the shape of tiny grey worms. It is an interesting image and I suppose a relatively novel one for any curious onlookers.

To know what secrets your pores truly hold. Is both an intriguing and terrifying prospect.

At a moderate price point of £18.50, I wanted to see what all the hype was about. ‘Drops of Youth’ is a popular line of products from TheBodyShop. The liquid skin peel being one of it’s top sellers. Of course I wanted to know why this was. Boasting an ethical range, ‘packed with natural ingredients that help to preserve fresher, healthier-looking skin’.

Additionally though, with an emphasis on skin health, and celebrating age, instead of fighting it. I have to applaud the kind of positive messages that the brand is utilising in advertising campaigns and literature. Especially in this day and age.

This product promises to ‘gently peel off impurities from your skin, lifting dead skin cells and residuals. It is ‘Infused with a blend of three plant stem cells, a revolutionary gel-to-peel which leaves skin clean and purified from the day’s pollutants.

But Does it Really Work?

Presumably, what you really wish to know is whether the ‘Drops of Youth’ Liquid peel, really works. I hope in this quick review, I can give you some insight.

I received this product as a gift and have been using it as instructed, 2-3 times a week. Presumably this is recommended, to get the benefits of the product, without drying out your skin too much. Especially if the purifying formula is as thorough as it claims.

I’d say it smells amazing. A super fresh scent, which I found quite citrusy. That’s always a bonus when you are about to rub something on your skin. The texture is honestly hard to describe. I’d say it is between a traditional scrub and a cleansing gel. It goes on smooth and has an instant cooling effect, which I personally really enjoy. I, run hot!

When you start rubbing it in; that is when the miracle is meant to happen. Your dead skin peeling off, like autumn leaves. An entire new face revealed from a crusty tomb.

That did happen, well… partially.

I found it hard to decipher whether the texture on my skin was in fact the lifted impurities. Or just the congealed strings of gel caused by the rubbing motions. Regardless though it definitely made my skin feel a whole lot cleaner. Especially in comparison to when I use a traditional face wash or scrub. It left my face feeling fresh, without having the negative drying qualities of other products.

‘Drops of Youth’ Peel- The Results

I did feel a difference in my skin after a few uses. It was tighter, and my skin just felt fresher generally. It was as if the ‘Drops of Youth’ Peel had done a better job of exfoliating my complexion, leaving my skin feeling more even. I would actually recommend this product to anyone who suffers from acne prone skin or an oily complexion. My skin definitely felt less oily, but without feeling as though every droplet of water had been drained from my pores.

What I would say though is; don’t expect miracles. With any product, I think it comes down to using it religiously and managing your expectations. After all, what works for one person, may not work as well for another. Although I’d like to peel off my face, like some Roald Dahl, Witches in reverse. Thats just not what we can come to expect of a product coming in at under £20.

So. Does TheBodyShop ‘Drops of Youth’ Peel really work?

Short answer yes! It left my face feeling fresh and invigorated.

Will it transform your entire life? Probably not, but don’t just take my word for it. Try it for yourself.

The Brand- TheBodyShop

I do find myself praising this product, more than I might have, if it had come from another brand. But I think that is because TheBodyShop is a brand that actually appears to care about its customers and the products they are creating. Aside from that though, the ethics of TheBodyShop, are those that I think many of us can get behind. The concept of using business to do good, helping customers and being mindful of the planet simultaneously. It makes the customer feel part of something bigger, even if just for a moment.
