How to make Dalgona Coffee? Dalgona Coffee Recipe

Quick post today. During this whole isolation situation I have been trying to keep my spirits up. So I have been Investing time in hobbies and activities I enjoy. Especially when I’m not focusing on university study. I came across the new Dalgona Coffee Trend and wanted to try it out myself and share my results. It’s super easy to make and makes for a refreshing and aesthetically pleasing cup of coffee. I posted some images on Instagram and have received many messages asking about the concoction. I thought I’d share the recipe I used officially here for anyone wanting to try a Dalgona Coffee Recipe for themselves. 

What is Dalgona Coffee?


What is Dalgona Coffee? I hear you ask. Well it is a whipped coffee mixture which has been taking the internet by storm. I believe this beverage originated from Indian and has recently become more popular in South Korea. Spreading like wildfire on social media and the tik tok platform. The whipped Coffee mixture is often used to top milk, to make a refreshing caffeinated drink. I believe you can use any kind of milk you like and have your Milk iced or warm depending on your preference. 

Without further ado here’s how you make Dalgona Coffee! 

Dalgona Coffee Recipe (or Whipped Coffee)

What you’ll need: 

  • 2 Tbsp of Instant Coffee
  • Hot water; 2 Tbsp
  • 2 Tbsps of Sugar (I used granulated sweetener) 
  • A glass of Milk or your choice. (I went for almond)
  • Finally, a stand mixer. Although, I’m sure you can use an electric mixer or a simple whisk. Bare in mind it may take a little longer that way.

How to make Whipped Coffee- Recipe

  1. First thing you need to do is just pour your instant Coffee, Sugar and Water into a large mixing bowl.
  2. Gently incorporate with a spoon
  3. Start whisking slowly. Very quickly your mixture should start getting thicker and become lighter in colour. This just means that air is being pushed into your mixture.
  4. Increase the speed of the Mixer and continue for about 5 minutes. 7-8 minutes if substituting Sugar with a Sweetener.
  5. Next , check the consistency of your Coffee. It should be a loose meringue texture. Almost like marshmallow.
  6. Get your glass of milk (iced is preferable for me personally) and carefully scoop a couple of spoonfuls of Dalgona Coffee mixture onto the top of your milk. Be weary not to be too rough. You don’t want to ruin the beautiful milk-coffee divide.
  7. You’re done, be sure to photograph your creation and enjoy the refreshing beauty of your newly founded Dalgona Coffee Recipe.
  8. You can then mix the foam and milk together. This creates a thick milkshake consistency. Delicious.
