Gluten Free Breakfast Biscuits Recipe 

First things first, I hope you are all safe and well in this strange and surreal period. I’ve found whilst shopping in recent days that food items I would usually rely on are becoming more and more sparse. Having dietary requirements where you rely on certain staples can mean times like this increase stress. As it can be a struggle to get your hands on your favourite Gluten Free essentials. When it comes to Gluten Free food it can also be cheaper to make somethings yourself, especially at times like this. So here’s my favourite Gluten Free Breakfast Biscuits Recipe. I came across this not that long ago in a supermarket food magazine and after altering it slightly, I have been hooked ever since. They also can be easily made Vegan. Simple, easy and they taste amazing, but don’t just take my word for it. Try them out yourself.

Simple Gluten Free Breakfast Biscuits Recipe

Ingredients- What you will need

  • 120g Butter (I used Dairy Free Spread)
  • 80g Sugar
  • 55g Gluten-free Plain flour
  • 1/2 tsp Binder (I used ‘Isabel’s Baking Fix’ but Xanthan Gum is also fine)
  • 150g Gluten-free porridge oats
  • 1/2 tsp Baking powder
  • Pinch of Salt

Optional ideas- Jazz up your Gluten Free Biscuits Recipe

  • 1 Tbsp Honey
  • A Handful of Chocolate Chips finely chopped- (I used a blender)
  • Your Favourite Dried fruit
  • Ginger
  • Shaved Coconut

Before we start

This Recipe is honestly so simple. Above I have listed a couple ideas of what you could add to this base recipe in order to vary your creations. Choose one or more optional ingredients and see what you get. Feel free to go crazy and add your own ideas, its about having fun and enjoying what we’re baking at the end of the day.


  1. Mix together your Butter and Sugar in a large bowl until creamy.
  2. In a separate bowl add the Flour, Oats, Baking Powder, Salt and Xanthan Gum until fully incorporated.
  3. Add the dry ingredients above into the Butter and Sugar mixture and mix until combined. It should start coming together like a thick dough.
  4. This is where you should add your optional ingredients. For the purpose of this bake I left my biscuits plain. I usually use chocolate chips and they elevate the bake beyond a simple Breakfast biscuit.
  5. Place the dough on cling film or parchment and place another piece over the top. Roll to your desired thickness, I usually do this by eye but I’d say 1cm thickness or so.
  6. Use a cutter of your desired shape. I used the bottom of a glass for the perfect bitesized pieces.
  7. Cut out as many biscuits as you can and place them on a baking tray. Bring the remaining dough together. Repeating the rolling/ cutting process. Use multiple baking trays if necessary.
  8. This time I was able to get about 24 Gluten Free Breakfast Biscuits from this batch.
  9. Cook in the centre of the oven for about 15 minutes. They may still be soft to touch. Leave them to set and cool for about 10 minutes and try lift one off the tray. It should be less fragile now.
  10. Store and enjoy them as you see fit

This particular Gluten Free Breakfast Biscuits Recipe, usually lasts me a week. If I am having them for breakfast I will usually have 4.

They are Perfect for Breakfast or if you’re just feeling a little peckish
