London Staycation -2021 Holidays

In collaboration with Hotels.com, but all views are my own

Some could say that none of us really need a holiday this year, with all the time we’ve spent indoors. But I for one could not disagree more. 2020 was a strange old year that lacked any sense of comfort or normality. I can’t lie, 2021 so far hasn’t been too fab either. But positivity is key to sanity in these increasingly insane times. Or at least that’s what I think at the moment. We can’t leave the country and may not be able to for the foreseeable future. So what! The UK is a beautiful place, a place which I too have under appreciated. So if we all cross our fingers and take the proper COVID precautions. We might just be enjoying a staycation sooner than you might think. Let me run down one of my favourite 2021 staycation locations and all the potential it holds. London Staycation 2021 coming right up.

Where to stay on your London Staycation

London is often bookmarked as one of the more expensive cities in the uk to visit and that’s not up for debate here. But with all the exciting opportunities that the city beholds, it is understandable why the price may be slightly higher than its contenders. However, there are cheaper areas to stay in London, especially if you’re happy not being in the heart of the hustle and bustle. Especially with the cities incredible convenient transport system, you’re always a short tube journey from the nearest tourist attraction regardless where you’re staying. If bustling streets are your thing, try and stay in the Centre of London where every corner offers a new experience.

What to do on a London Staycation?

Hopefully once restrictions are lifted again the things we love about London Staycations will be revived and better than ever. Things may look or feel different at first but as long as we’re all safe and still able to enjoy ourselves- thats what counts. I’ll include some of my personal favourites here.

Food, Drinks and Exploration

Anyone who reads my posts regularly might know that I eat Gluten Free, so every time I am on a London Staycation or visiting family and friends. I cant help but explore the great food opportunities that the city has to offer.

Whether it be the fabulous food markets and local restaurants or the food hall of world famous department store Harrods. There sure is a lot to taste and try.

One of my favourites is the Beyond Bread stall, who do the most incredible gluten free desserts. I have great memories of sitting on my suitcase in a side street in London, chowing down on a glorious slab of cheesecake.

But dont take my word for it. London is riddled with incredible food spots. The world famous Convent Garden and china town, or the hidden gems of Clapham. Do yourself a favour and go discover them for yourself this summer.

Activities and Entertainment

London is famous for its recognisable landmarks and tourist attractions, so I am sure you’re already familiar with a few. So out of fear of boring you all I am going to quickly bullet point some of my favourites.

  • The London Eye
  • National History Museum
  • Believe it or Not
  • Madame Tussauds
  • Buckingham Palace
  • Covent Gardens
  • Oxford Street
  • Leicester Square

I hope that very soon we will be able to reopen the Westend and tourists will be able to safely enjoy theatre going and live music once again. Some of my favourite London Westend shows would have to be: Dream Girls, Wicked, The Bodyguard, Les Mis. The list goes on and I pray anyone who has a London Staycation this year has the privilege to experience these shows in person.

Safe-cation Staycation

Wherever you decide to go this year. Whichever Staycation location you choose. The most important thing is of course the safety of ourselves and all of the people we love. Make sure to follow precautions, treat yourself and come home feeling refreshed and ready to take on the rest of 2021.
